KABUSHI PF constituency chairman Wilbroad Chileshe has told area member of parliament Bowman Lusambo that 2021 will not be easy if they don’t work. And Chileshe says there is too much lying in the PF. Meanwhile, Lusambo has said his family will construct a police station in Lubuto using what he calls the Bowman Lusambo Fund.
Presenting party concerns to Lusambo during a constituency meeting held at Lubuto Secondary School on Saturday, Chileshe said hard work was needed in the Patriotic Front.
“Ba Honourable, we are happy that since your transfer to Lusaka as minister, you have constantly found time to come here and see the people who voted for you. This is very commendable because you have not forgotten the people. Our MP, before I give you the time to address these party officials, let me say a few things. 2021 is not going to be easy if we don’t work,” Chileshe said.
“There (are) a lot of lies in our party which we should stop immediately. Again ba honourable, we are having party elections in the constituency and these elections should not divide us. We need to come out strong. So unity is very much important.”
He complained that women had not benefited from any empowerment programmes.
Chileshe said men were also complaining because it was always women and youth empowerment that was being talked about.
“On women empowerment, our women have not benefited anything. So we want to benefit also. We want our women when they go to work for the party, they leave some food at their homes, instead of hunger,” he said.
“The youth also, you need to do more. Men have been complaining that they are not talked about when it comes to empowerment, so ba honourable, look at this matter also. Let this constituency feel also that our men benefit.”
In response, Lusambo promised that there were projects in offing that would benefit everyone in the constituency.
“You see, our constituency does not have industries. Everything like town, industries are in other constituencies, so we need to work with what is within us. But we have projects that will change the face of Kabushi and a lot of our people, including you officials will benefit. Me, I am MP for everyone in Kabushi,” Lusambo said.
On party constituency elections, Lusambo said he had no interest in contesting any position.
“These elections that we are having, let me tell you that Bowman Lusambo has no interest whatsoever. I will not contest for any position. It is yourselves to fight and prove that you are a leader. But I have heard some people wanting to buy off and bringing in some kwachas. If we are to go that route, we have the muscle to buy and put in leaders that we want. But that is not democracy. As PF, we are a democratic party so we want to see you in these elections,” he said.
“These elections are not about me. My time is coming in 2021. Elections teyabana (is not for small boys). Show us that you are capable and these elections will test you. For me, it’s 2021 where I will be tested.”
Later during a tour of a container police post in Lubuto, Lusambo said he would construct a police station using family resources.
“As a family, we promised the people of Lubuto that we will build them a police station. Time has come that we should fulfill that promise. So as the Lusambo family, we will construct a police station using the Bowman Lusambo Fund,” said Lusambo.
