FAZ president Andrew Kamanga says though the journey is still on, the association has done “pretty well” to make football development a reality in Zambia.
And Kamanga says league sponsorship for all tiers will be a strong catalyst to professionalise the game at all levels.
Kamanga said Zambia was one of very few African countries at this stage to have fully implemented club licencing.
“I wake up with one overarching desire each morning; to make football development a reality in Zambia. We have done pretty well, but it still is a journey. We are one of very few African countries at this stage to have fully implemented Club Licencing,” he posted on his Facebook page. “We have successfully implemented our decentralisation policy, bringing football administration to all provinces. Clubs benefitting from FAZ sponsorship deals (and there are many sponsorship deals coming) is now a norm rather than an exception.Transparency and accountability is now the hallmark of Football House.”
Kamanga said FAZ would also be rolling out some new initiatives and developments in the coming months.
And Kamanga said it was the association’s desire to woo sponsors to get involved in the running of the game.
“Potential sponsors are expressing greater confidence in our ability to transparently run the game with accountability and fairness. As an association, FAZ can only go higher,” said Kamanga.
On Monday, Kamanga said Division One football was headed for higher heights.
“Sponsor for league found, still ironing out one or two points. Good deal for Development of Football. Matches to be televised live on TV. Teams to have a significant financial package,” said Kamanga.
