Soldier In Court for Assaulting Ex-Wife

A ZAMBIA Army officer yesterday appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court for allegedly beating and assaulting his former wife in June. Evans Maimbo is accused of assaulting his former wife, Faith Moonga, on June 29. It is believed that Maimbo is the driver for Zambia Army Commander Paul Mihova.

Allegations are that Maimbo on the material day assaulted his former wife with fists and a wheel spanner. And according to information obtained, Maimbo and Moonga were married in 1988 but the Chilenje Local Court divorced them in May 2017. It was ordered by the court that Maimbo and Moonga share property

which included a Benz truck 1113, unregistered motor bike, water tractor and Farm No. 1197 at 50 per cent each. When Moonga went to the farm to follow up on the tractor with her brother, she was surprised to find Maimbo removing its alternator. And when she asked him why, he allegedly told her he was removing spare parts to off-set the stolen parts from the Benz truck. Maimbo asked Moonga what she had gone to do at the farm and accused her of trespassing.

Maimbo allegedly beat her up and she sustained laceration and was bleeding from the lower and upper hip.
