Wife Narrates How She Found Her Husband Committing Adultery With His Brother’s Wife

A woman of Mansa has narrated before the local court how she found her husband committing adultery with his brother’s wife.
This was heard in a case in which Bwalya Ponde sued her husband, Paul Musonda for divorce due to desertion. Ponde told senior local court magistrate Leorntina Zaloumis sitting with magistrate Margaret Sankalimba that when her husband married her in 2007, their stay was fine. She said after the two had three kids, her husband’s behaviour changed.

Ponde said her husband would go home late and stopped supporting his family financially. She said in May this year, she had a dispute with her husband and left her matrimonial home to live at her parents’ house. “I decided to go back to my husband’s house and when I entered the bedroom, I found my sister-in-marriage, in bed having sex with my husband and she told me that she was comforting him as I had left him,” she said.

She said after the incident, she went back to her parents’ house and filed for marriage reconciliation before the same court. Ponde said the court reconciled the two but immediately after the judgement, the two did not communicate and went separate ways. She said it had been four months since she was reconciled with her husband but they had never communicated. She begged the court to grant her divorce because her husband has no interest in her and has deserted her.

And Musonda said after the court’s judgement, he has never communicated with his wife and only spoke after she gave him the divorce summons. Magistrate Zaloumis noted that Musonda took his wife for granted and had no love and affection for her.
She ordered him to compensate his wife with K8,000 to be paid in
