Fire tender Corruption has become the order of the day under the Patriotic Front government. It is good that donor pressure has made President Lungu to finally act decisive over corrupt elements. There are a lot of players within the broader scheme of white collar corruption in Zambia today. Some of these are so-called prominent business men. We have businessmen who are not any different from what Kabanshi and Chanda are said to have been doing. On this score, we have Bokani Soko of Grandview and Neria in mind. His 42 Million Dollar Fire tender deal must be subjected to the court room soon rather than later.

Just a few days ago, Honorable Chabi of Chipili once again appealed to the conscience of the Zambian government when he called for clarity over the value at which Bokani Soko fire tenders were insured. The response to the effect that the fire tenders purportedly bought at K 1 MILLION DOLLARS EACH where actually insured for 10 Million Kwacha each has just gone to expose the hardcore criminality that is implicit in that deal. Some of us knew that time would catch up with the likes of Bokani Soko and his accomplices such as Kampyongo who partly shared in the bloody loot from the poor people of this country.

The 42 Million Dollars Fire Tenders must not die a natural death. Those Bokani Soko fire trucks were insured for K10 million kwacha even when the purchase value is said to stand at 1 million dollars each? What kind of nonsense is this? Who eats with Bokani Soko such that he can be allowed to steal with such impunity? Zambians deserve to know the truth. This is total madness. In the same manner that the likes of Kabanshi and McPherson Chanda have are being made subject of active investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission, why can’t we also have Bokani Soko and the many thieves such as Kampyongo who are said to have eaten with him be made accountable?

There is nothing dignified about a human being who steals from the little that the poor are supposed to have. In the same manner that the likes of Kabanshi and Chanda are being made to account, the likes of Bokani Soko must follow suit. It is unfair for one individual to suck all the little that the people ought to use to survive.
