Zambian Man Bit Off Pregnant Wife’s Private Parts

23-YEAR-OLD pregnant woman of Chief Mibenge in Mansa is nursing injuries on her private parts after allegedly being bitten by her husband.
Luapula Province commissioner of police Elias Chushi said the incident happened on Monday around 23:00 hours and identified the woman as Anne Chalwe.
Mr Chushi said the woman, who is five months pregnant, is currently admitted to Mansa General Hospital.
He said the suspect identified as Derrick Chiluba has been arrested and will appear in court soon.
“Whilst the woman was in deep sleep, her husband bit her on her private part and when she wake up due to severe pain, she found her husband inserting a scissors on her private part trying to cut it off,” she said.
Mr Chushi said the woman sustained severe injuries and a swollen private part, and that she is unable to walk.
He said police have launched investigations into the matter to establish the motive behind Chiluba’s action.
And Mansa One-stop Centre coordinator Chimba Chimba is disappointed with Chiluba’s conduct despite the intensified sensitisation campaign against gender-based violence.
Chimba has called on traditional leaders and other stakeholders to be proactive in curbing gender violence.
“This is a very sad case, it is worrying that we have been going round sensitising people on GBV and its dangers but the cases have continued increasing,” he said.
And Ipas Zambia country director Grace Chiyaba said violence against women should not be tolerated.
