Mum Burns Daughter Over  K2

Police in Kitwe have arrested a 28-year-old woman of Kawama township for burning her five-year-old daughter for allegedly stealing K2. And police in Chingola have arrested a Pakistani national for allegedly assaulting his employee. Copperbelt commissioner of police Charity Katanga said in an interview yesterday that the suspect identified as Given Mulenga burnt her daughter on the right side of the palm leaving her with serious injuries.

She said Mulenga forced her daughter to hold a burnt piece of charcoal on her right side of the palm, where she sustained serious burns as punishment. “A concerned citizen actually reported the matter to the police station on the burnt child and that is how we arrested the mother,” Mrs Katanga said. And police in Chingola have arrested a Pakistan national for allegedly assaulting his employee.

Mrs Katanga said the man identified as Jabran Naeem, 26, was arrested after he beat up Lazarus Lyombe, 24, who sustained a painful neck, ribs and general body pains. She said Naeem was arrested after he beat up Lyombe, a security guard at Zumran Mining Limited, for defying his orders of not allowing workers that had reported for work not to enter the company premises
