STATEMENT ON POLITICIANS BENT ON INCITING ZAMBIANS TO RISE AGAINST THEIR ELECTED GOVERNMENT

It’s unfortunate that some disgruntled politicians are inciting Zambians to rise against their elected Government for selfish reasons.

Whilst we regret the death of a UNZA student during the Police’s attempt to quell the riot that erupted at the campus, it’s strange that the funeral procession of a tragic loss of life degenerated into a political circus.

We have noted with concern how the said sorrowful event turned into a political platform that was used to paint Government black amid on-going investigations into the death of a named UNZA student.

It’s clear that the harassment of Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Dora Siliya was politically motivated as she was singled out among many other political players who were present.

We are also alive to the fact that some political leaders with their cadres clad in party regalia thronged the said funeral procession to gain cheap political mileage.

However, we condemn in the strongest terms the misconduct of the said politicians at the sorrowful event.

We are fully aware of the scheme that has been orchestrated, in alliance with media outlets hostile to Government, to unseat or oust PF from power.

Indeed, inciting citizens to rise against their elected Government is just part of the series of the said scheme.

In view of the foregoing, we call upon the Police and other security agencies to bring the perpetrators of the said offence to book.

We urge the Zambian people to be wary of politicians who are allegedly bent on inciting them to rise against their Government for selfish reasons.
