‘The Dressing Here Was OK, Some Men Always Have An Excuse For Their Inappropriate Behaviour’

A Zambian woman has come to defend  women  in a photo that went viral on social media regarding their dressing considering that they were leading members of the church into worship and this is what she had to say:

“Some men always have a way of defending their inappropriate behaviour. That pastor who sent a video which had no woman in it. Although I did not see it, I was made to understand that it was a home made video of an elderly man who arrived at a well thought decision that his modus operandi was the best way to launch his manifesto to a lady. Right? In fact from the reactions, I could tell that there was graphic violence.

The women who watched it were violated by that content. And definitely some young people could have seen it too. That man said he was sorry, that actually the intended recipient was his spouse, not so? Suppose it was another man he was sending it to? We should be allowed to study the situation from different angles!

Clearly, someone who engages in such absurdity can do anything!! Na lapela, please leave the women alone. Allow us to live to our full potential without too much judgement. If women were handed over the instruments of power, they would have governed Zambia far much better. But we are only left to manage homes and not the nation just because there is more money.

Yet on the sidelines you tell us that we manage the budgets very well… that the grocery goes up to monthend. Not so? But a woman who joins politics is labelled a prostitute. Why are women not judging or rising up to castrate some men for the economic malaise caused by the malefolk over the course of 50 years since Zambia’s independence?

Yes, men have been in power all these years!! Let us treat each other fairly. By the way I am married and trying hard to raise great children. So no comments like frustrated woman, my plate is very full!. And even if I was not, I would stand by this. I just believe in being given the space to exist as an individual created in the image of God.

I never comment on these public platforms but this has to be stopped. Now women should not have the freedom even to sing in Church because their clothes will be a subject of debate and ridicule on social media? I think this is very unfortunate.

In fact women do not preach, mostly their roles in Church involve sweeping, moving benches, ushering, cooking food for visitors, flower arrangements and collection of offering which is handed over and possibly used by male pastors, and need I mention hospital visits. How many battles will women fight please?

Even the British South African Company before independence was sharing the loot with men, yes Kings. They signed concessions with kings not with queens. Please mina batu! Nifelize!”
