A House of Kitwe has testified before the Ganerton Local Court how she allegedly found her husband sleeping with his lover on top of the ‘holy’ mountain which is used for prayer meetings by various church denominations.

Hilda Mwila, 30, was testifying in a case in which she sued her husband’s lover Betty Mpundu, 33, for compensation of insults.
Mwila told the court that her house has a bar and that on September, 22, this year, Mpundu went to her house to charge her phone but she instead gave it her husband.

She said this made her feel uncomfortable especially that she had been hearing rumours of the two having an affair. Mwila said she then confronted Mpundu over her behaviour, who started insulting her. She said to her surprise, her husband supported Mpundu and asked her to go and seat at their neighbours house.

She told the court that while seated at her neighbours’ house, she saw Mpundu walking away from their house and that a few minutes later, her husband also came out of the house. Mwila said she became suspicious and followed the two and was surprised to find them on top of the mountain in Mindolo township sleeping together. She said after being caught in the act, Mpundu started insulting her. “After I found the two of them having sex, I confiscated Mpundu’s pant and her phone,” she said.

The two items were used as evidence before the court. But Mpundu denied ever having any intimate relationship with Mwila’s husband.
She told the court that Mwila only managed to get her pant when she stripped her naked at her house. And Ganerton senior presiding magistrate Mutono Banda upheld the claim after finding Mpundu guilty. Magistrate Mutono also ordered Mpundu to compensate Mwila with K1,000, to be paid in
