A 26-year-old woman has reported wayward musician General Kanene to the police in Lusaka for forcibly and repeatedly fondling her breasts.
It is alleged that the 32-year-old singer repeatedly touched the victims breasts against her will as she was waiting for her food at a bar in Lusaka’s Makeni Villa on October 16.
Police spokesperson Esther Mwata Katongo confirmed the incident and said General Kanene was in police custody.
“We received a report of Indecent Assault from a 26 year old female of old Kanyama Compound in Lusaka that she was indecently assaulted by Clifford Dimba popularly known as general Kanene,” Katongo said.
“This is reported to have happened at a bar in Makeni Villa on 16th October, 2018 around 20:00 hours. It is alleged that the suspect repeatedly touched the victims breasts against her will as she was waiting for her food.The suspect was arrested yesterday and is detained in Police custody.”
General was convicted of defilement in 2014 and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment but was pardoned and appointed ambassador against gender based violence by President Edgar Lungu.
