The Tobacco Association of Zambia (TAZ) has purchased 23 million kilograms of tobacco from the 2017-2018 farming season.

Out of the purchased 23 million kilograms, 12 million kilograms is from the TAZ members while the rest of the tobacco was purchased from independent growers.

And Association’s consultant Phonto Mumbi is delighted as the contractual targets have been met.

Mr. Mumbi says an overall market assessment will however indicate kilograms of tobacco produced in the 2017-2018 farming season.

He notes that this will also assist in predicting the expected 2018-2019 production figures.
