Police in Chipata have arrested a renowned Reverend from Chipata’s Presbyterian Church in Mchini compound for fighting at church.
Reverend Sonye Banda was arrested with four of his church members and charged with affray after exchanging fists and knuckles in church on Sunday.
Eastern Province Police commissioner Luckson Sakala confirmed the incident saying the church fight took place on Sunday October 29 and the “fighters” were arrested on Monday October 29.
Commissioner Sakala said the church members accused Reverend Banda of mismanaging church funds and the fight ensued when they decided to block him from entering the church.
He explained that Rev Banda and the four church members were charged with affray and were only released after they paid admission of guilty fee.
