PATRIOTIC Front(PF) Member of the Central Committee(MCC) Kebby Mbewe says after the PF is done with embattled Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili, it will go for his Bahati counterpart Harry Kalaba.
But Mr Kalaba says no amount of intimidation from the PF ranks and file will cow him down to silence, adding that the PF can write as many warning letters to him as they want but that he does not give a damn.
Speaking in an interview in Choma, Southern Province, Mr Mbewe said after the High Court ruling in which it threw out his case where he asked the court to nullify the PF, MCC decision to expel him from the party, Kambwili’s polical career is over, adding that it will be difficult for the National Democratic Congress(NDC) consultant to bounce back after that predicament.
He said the ruling party will now follow him to Roan Constitution and hammer a last nail in his political coffin.
He said after defeating Kambwili or whoever the NDC will adopt in Roan Constituency, Kalaba’s Bahati Constituency seat will be on the spot light.
“Kambwili is not part of us. You see, the Speaker of the National Assembly nullified the Roan Constituency seat.In any party, you can expel a member and the Speaker has a right to nullify that seat. In this case, Kambwili appealed that ‘how can you nullify my seat before we finish the court process’, but the case was thrown out last week. This is why the Secretary General wrote to the Speaker to inform him to declare that seat vacant because he (Kambwili) is not part of the party. Kambwili stood on the ticket of the PF to represent the people in Roan Constituency on behalf of the PF. So, if he opts to recontests his seat, he will do so under his party(NDC),” he said.
Asked whether the ruling party is not scared of losing the Roan seat to Kambwili who is considered a giant by some Luanshya residents, Mr Mbewe said: ” What giant? A giant of whom? What can a finished man like Kambwili do honestly? I will tell you something, all the Zambians have seen that the man is greedy and what makes him behave like that is anger, greediness and selfishness. What kind of a person can choose Kambwili as President surely. It is even unfortunate that we know Kambwili. Some of us regret knowing him because he is an embarrassment to the party, the Zambian community and to everyone.”
He said Kalaba, Kambwili and Kelvin Fube Bwalya(KBF) should not blame President Lungu or anyone else in the ruling party for their political misfortune but their greed and thirsty for power.
“We have seen people who were doing fine but because of greed and power hungry, they have gone. It is not a joke when we say ‘let us wait for God’s time.’ That is not rhetoric, it is a true statement. In life, those people that are aiming for political power, the Harry Kalabas, the KBFs and the Kambwilis should wait for God’s time. These guys are not only incoviniencing the party but also the Zambian people. We want peace. If one wants to form their own party, why should they defend their position, let them form there own political party and contest the elections on their own party,” he said
And Mr Mbewe said there is no going back in the Central Committee decision of re- adopting President Edgar Lungu as a 2021 Candidate.
He said the MCC made a decision based on the performance of the incumbent Zambian leader.
“Of course that is not debatable. We have a right candidate in Edgar Lungu because he is loved by the Zambian people,” Mr Mbewe said.
Asked whether people are at liberty to challenge President Lungu in the 2020 General Conference without intimidation, Mr Mbewe responded in the positive.
He said PF is a democratic party that allows divergence.
Mr Mbewe, however, said those willing to challenge the President must be in good standing with the party.
“Every Zambian, every PF member with good standing with the party is qualified to challenge the President. PF is the only party that shows democracy. The Central Committee, which I belong to allows every member to contest elections from the ward to the convention level. If Kelvin Fube, whatever you call him, if he wants to challenge the President of this great republic, he is free to do so,” Mr Mbewe said.
Asked why he is belittling and mocking KBF from his statement “whatever you call him” when he played a huge role in President Lungu’s 2015 victory, Mr Mbewe said: “I will tell you something, everybody did a lot for this party and in the PF, we don’t believe that one is superior to the other. Even you(Journalist) as a voter, you did a lot for the party. We are not like these other parties, where, if you feel you have money, you think you own the party. For us in the PF, every member matters. Even a voter, we are saying, they have contributed because they put us in power.”
But Mr Kalaba who was invited for the 2018 Chuungu Lwiindi Ceremony said he will not stop talking about the problems the Zambian people are facing simply because the PF does not want him to speak.
He said he has made a decision of being the voice of the voiceless.
“Come on guys, we have passed that story, I mean we have passed that bridge. That is not a story for me anymore.I have told you that I will continue speaking for the Zambians and no amount of yaping and ranting will stand in my way and I think that for me it is a forgone conclusion, it is a story that is in the past and they can do what they want,” he said, ” For now, we are saying that Zambians need to take back the country back in their hands. Zambian businessness men have had their row deal. Zambian entrepreneurs are just watching when foreigners are becoming rich and I am saying there must be change, there must be a stop to this kind of activity. We have seen that airports are being done by outsiders, Telecoms are being done by outsiders. I mean everything, universities, schools, hospitals are being done by outsiders and there is nothing for Zambians. You want us to be watching because someone is going to be writing Kalaba Harry a letter? Let them write even 100 letters, I don’t give it a damn.”
