Statement On Kambwili’s Assertions That There Is No President In Zambia

November 26, 2018

The remarks attributed to Chishimba Kambwili alleging that there is no President in Zambia are not only unfortunate, demeaning, provocative, but also extremely disrespectful to the Head of State and an insult to the collective intelligence of the Zambian people.

Kambwili and other disgruntled elements have demonstrated gross disrespect for the Office of the President and the person who occupies it.

However, contrary to Kambwili’s assertions, there is a Republican President in the name of Edgar Lungu who swore-in Kambwili as Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services on two occasions in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

Further, the Republican President was duly elected by the people of Zambia in 2016 for a five-year mandate.

The Office of the President and the person who occupies it deserves respect from everyone regardless of their status in the Zambian society.

Zambian DNA finds Kambwili and his allies morally bankrupt for their gross disrespect of the highest office in the land when they are also vying to occupy the same office.

We expect Kambwili and his allies to behave in the manner befitting their status, and not behave like children throwing mud at other in a circus.

We also advise Kambwili and his allies to stop abusing the freedom of the expression and the media by consistently attacking the character of the Head of State.
