Two thousand and nine teachers have been selected for the 2018 teacher recruitment out of 27,439 applicants.
Teaching Service Commission Chairperson Stanley Mh’ango disclosed this during a media briefing in Lusaka.
Mr. Mh’ango said the recruitment exercise was conducted at district level and applicants were instructed to only apply in one district.
He said two hundred and seventy applicants were disqualified because they applied in more than one district.
Mr. Mh’ango further said 54 applicants had submitted fake grade twelve certificates and will be reported to the Anti -Corruption Commission.
He said of the total number of recruited candidates, 74 are persons with disabilities.
One thousand, two hundred and sixty-five were female and seven hundred and forty-four male candidates.
Mr. Mh’ango said the list of successful candidates will be published in the Daily papers on Wednesday December 5th, 2018.
He also told journalists that teachers found in exam malpractice will be de-registered and not allowed to practice both in the public and private schools.
