Zambia Revenue Authority(ZRA) has extended working hours at the Kasumbalesa Border post in a bid to decongest the thousand of trucks marooned at the Zambian border post because of construction works being conducted the Democratic Republic of Congo border post.
Assistant Commissioner North Wagner Chilembo says the provisional extension of working hours from 18 hours to 22 hours at Kasumbalesa border will help to decongest trucks at the facility.
Mr. Chilembo says the authority will ensure the situation is normalised soon.
He was speaking when Copperbelt Minister Japhen Mwakalombe met Democratic Republic of Congo Deputy Consulate General, Nkulu Ghyslain in Ndola.
And Mr. Ghyslain admitted that the prevailing situation at Kasumbalesa Border is not conducive and that the matter must be resolved immediately.
Meanwhile Mr. Mwakalombe described the situation as a danger to the people citing the lack of sanitary and proper food storage facilities.
