Everyone should have confidence in the country’s judiciary as they dispense justice for everyone regardless of their political and religious affiliations.
However, we expect everyone to respect the Courts’ decisions regardless of their status in society as this is the only way to demonstrate their confidence in our judiciary.
Further, we, a consortium of non-governmental organizations, have noted with dismay how some section of society have resorted to attacking the Courts of Law whenever they deliver judgements that are not in their favour.
We strongly appeal to those in the habit of pre-empting the Courts’ decisions to desist from doing so as this undermines the independence and impartiality of the judiciary.
