Why a Couple Must Be Praying Together

Why a Couple Must Be Praying Together

In most homes, the couple doesn’t pray together. Some don’t even pray for a meal; when they go to bed, they just toss themselves on the matress, and there they go.

Too many couples don’t see the value of joining their hands as a family to pray together. If there’s something that strengthens the marriage, praying together is one of them. Why is it insignificant to pray together?

1. IT IS A GUIDE. Praying together shows both partinars what they are after. There is a clear image of what their marriage should be like. If someone prays alone, the other person may not know what he or she wants to see in front of their marriage.Praying together is language of what each one has in the heart. So if they came together, as this one speaks out, it gives a clue to the other partinar what they really need their marriage to be like. Praying in this manner become a map to their needs.

2. IT PROMOTES UNIT. Imagine each one prays alone. It means there’s a separation there or there is not much unit. Why can’t the two hold their hands and pray together? I am not saying a person should not have a personal prayer. My focal point is the absence of family prayer. No one knows my insides unless I poured out. Praying with the family really promotes peace in that house.

3. CHILDREN GROW SUPERB. Through praying together with your family, children learn how you want them to grow. It is like your prayers give them future direction. Some families ask even their children to pray. That’s a good way of raising children. A prayer is a good behavioural shaper.

4. THERE IS SECURITY. Our prayers programmes our minds. Sometimes a partinar may want to do something wrong, but by looking at how they pray and do this and that, he or she calms himself or herself. The prayers they have been offering have softened that person unlike those who don’t pray. We behave well when we deeply pray with our hearts. There’s too much violence, word abuse, and criticisms in homes where they don’t pray together. Morever, your enemies may feel to penetrate, as each one of you is solid spiritually.

5. HAPPINESS. Praying together creates happiness in the home. Family members feel relieved from whatever happened. That prayer covers up maybe what went wrong.

6. FEELING OF BEING LOVED. Both a man and woman feels loved. The worst thing in marriage is to feel someone doesn’t love you. It can make you develop wrong plans. So this is what praying together solves. Praying together is one way of knowing that someone loves you.
So dear friends, if you don’t pray together, start. If you do, continue.
