THE Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) says the Southern Province tourism and investment exposition scheduled to be hosted in September next year requires extensive publicity for the event to be successful.
ZDA investment promotions specialist Jones Zulu said during the 2018 last quarter provincial development coordinating committee meeting recently that the expo should be result-oriented.
“We need to highly publicise the expo because you do not want a situation where an expo looks like a district show. It should not go unnoticed,” he said.
Mr Zulu said ZDA, working with the Southern Province administration, will use the experience from the Luapula, Northern and Central investment expos to host a successful event.
He said ZDA expects all provinces to hold investment expos in due course.
“We are happy that the involvement of ZDA in this function has started at a very early stage. We intend to work with all departments and government agencies in organising it,” Mr Zulu said.
He said ZDA expects stakeholders to hold discussions on the potential of the province and its investment opportunities.
Mr Zulu said the aim of the expo should be in line with the Vision 2030, whose purpose is to promote investments in certain target sectors such as tourism and agriculture.
“Every investment opportunity available in the province should be well packaged and information about every district should be given,” he said.
Mr Zulu said Southern Province has a lot of local people who can invest in the region, hence the need to identify them.
He said it is the wish of ZDA to promote more joint investment ventures between local and foreign companies.
