THE Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has to date paid out K144 million to over 20,000 farmers who supplied maize to the agency in the 2018/19 marketing season.
In the 2018/19 marketing season, Government tasked FRA to buy 500,000 metric tonnes of maize for strategic reserves.
FRA chief executive officer Chola Kafwabulula said in an interview yesterday that so far, the agency has managed to buy over 170,000 metric tonnes of maize.
