A woman of Musaba village in Mansa, who has been dragged to court by her best friend has narrated before the local court how she found her friend kissing her husband while sitting on his lap at her house. Lydia Kunda also dragged her best friend to court because she locked her husband in her house on Christmas Day making him not to buy Christmas food for her and their children.
Kunda sued her friend, Given Mwape for compensation for defamation of character. Kunda told senior local court magistrate Leorntina Zaloumis and magistrate Margaret Sakalimba that on December 23, last year, around 20:00 hours, her husband disappeared from the house.
She said she went to her friend’s house where she found the two chatting.
Kunda said one day, she found her best friend with her husband but she claimed that she was just using his phone to call her friend’s husband who was away. “On Christmas Day, my husband told me that he was going for work but when I went to visit my friend I heard his voice in her house,” she narrated.
“I entered my best friend’s house and found her sitting on my husband’s lap and kissing him passionately,” she narrated. Kunda said she could not believe what she saw and the two dragged her outside the house. “I trusted my friend with all my heart, and now my husband has turned against me and claims that my friend satisfies him more than me,” he said. Kunda said because of her best friend, her husband mocks her and calls her a lazy woman who has failed to satisfy him in bed.
She said on Christmas Day, her best friend locked her husband in her house and he refused to buy Christmas food for her and the children.
Kunda said her husband has since left their matrimonial home and has no idea of his whereabouts. And Mwape said on December 23 last year, she went to her best friend’s house to borrow a phone from her husband so that she could call her husband who was away.
She said her husband did not pick the call and that around 21:00 hours, he called and Kunda’s husband took the phone to her house.
Kunda said her friend then found them and started accusing them of being lovers.
“One day, my friend found me and her husband at my house and started making announcements that I was a prostitute and that I sleep with her husband,” she said. She said Kunda has dented her name because she has now become a laughing stock to the public.
Magistrate Zaloumis adjourned the matter for judgement.
