ECONOMICS Association of Zambia president Dr Lubinda Haabazoka says people will cry when he vacates the association’s presidency.
Dr Haabazoka said his team was reviving EAZ using personal money and will leave it far much better when the time to go comes.
He expressed these views in a Facebook comment after one follower asked when the Association would have its election so that Dr Haabazoka could be voted out.
On Monday evening Dr Haabazoka posted, “Some are the leaves and others are the branches, but we are the roots…”
Reacting to the post, Economist Carlos commented, “When are we having EAZ Elections we vote you out…?”
Carlos’s inquiring comment elicited a lengthy response from Dr Haabazoka insisting EAZ had become much better with him at the helm and that he would retain the presidency by landslide in case of an election.
“Economist Carlos, I was not made by EAZ. Me and my team are reviving EAZ. We spend our own money on EAZ. Trust me, when time comes to leave, EAZ shall be by far much better. If you are an economist, pass by the secretariat and find out the life there last year and now. People will cry when me and my team leave and believe me, our lives will remain the same because what we do is voluntary work, which is not paid for! But should we choose to run again, trust me we shall win again with a landslide,” Dr Haabazoka wrote.
But Carlos extended the comment thread by insisting Dr Haabazoka had “lost it” because he had become political.
“Stop being political, you were my inspiration during your CBU days, used to follow your analysis with keen interest….. But you have lost it man, already you’re talking about people crying when you leave EAZ, EAZ has been there since forever so who are you for people to cry when you leave? African experts!”
