Former Vice President Lupando Mwape has died.

Mr Mwape died this morning around 06:05 hours at Arwyp medical Centre in Pretoria, South Africa where he was receiving specialist treatment.

Secretary to cabinet Roland Msiska disclosed this to ZNBC News in Lusaka today in a statement.

Mr Mwape was last week evacuated to South Africa for specialist treatment.

He saved as Republican Vice-President from 2004 to 2006 under late President, Levy Patrick Mwanawasa.

Members of the public will be informed about the funeral details as government is making arrangements to repatriate his body from South Africa
