Brian Chama, the Lusaka pastor who was caught up in an adulterous affair, now faces disciplinary action. Pastor Chama, who is on separation with his wife, recently confessed to having an affair with a married woman who once attended the church he pastored called H.O.P.E Ministries. According to Pentecostal Assemblies of God (Zambia), under which H.O.P. E Ministries falls, the adulterous pastor has been disciplined. Howev e r , Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAOG) general secretary Bishop Lawrence Chileshe could not divulge what sort of disciplinary action has been meted on pastor Chama, saying the church does not discuss its ministers in the press. “Yes, disciplinary action has already been taken against him but I cannot discuss what action has been taken. That matter is now under the District PAOG.
Only they can comment on what sort of disciplinary action has been taken,” Bishop Chileshe said. He said the church takes a rehabilitative route when any of its members errs. But pastor Chama, who was the lead pastor at the church located in PHI township, said in a statement posted on his Facebook page that he had ‘stepped down’ and will no longer be a minister under PAOG. Pastor Chama said his actions were unbecoming of a minister of the Lord.
“I am not fit and worthy to stand before God’s people and in His presence. I am not worthy nor fit to speak God’s name or talk about His righteousness. I have been involved with a woman that is not my wife and have in the process done despicable things that I will forever live to regret for as long as I live. I have let him down,” he posted.
Pastor Chama said his actions have broken homes, including his own, destroyed families and divided friendships. “I have hurt people that are very close and dear to my heart. I have brought shame to the name of God that trusted me with His calling. I have brought the clergy into disrepute and have brought shame to my family, my friends and colleagues,” he said.
Pastor Chama said he has since alienated himself from all activities to do with the ministering of the gospel. He also apologised to his wife and children for his “irresponsible actions and unfaithfulness”.
