As Movement for National Transformation, MNT, we contend that the current state of national dialogue has exposed the immaturity of various stakeholders and their lack of patriotism, to put national interests first than personal interests, or narrow partisan Interests because:
Firstly, the Church immaturity has been exposed by the divisions , and lack of inclusiveness in the process causing more harm than good to all involved. Independent Churches as a Body have been sidelined by the Three Church Mother Bodies, sadly.
Furthermore , Zambia Centre for Intetparty Dialogue , ZCID and the Ruling Partriotic Front have shunned the Dialogue, howbeit relative efforts to bring them on board still being pursued. The Church is failing to inspire confidence to those that suspect her to be advancing a UPND agenda from the beginning, which is sad.
Secondly, the Patriotic Front , PF, led- Government lacks proper advisers to protect the Presidency from ridicule and mis- understanding the implications of PF and the President absconding from the dialogue process which shows untransformative leadership , and failure to pursue Multi-Partisan approaches to national issues . The PF Presidency will go on record, as having failed the country at this time in history, and the Patriotic Front as a party will go in history as a ruling Party that failed to champion Unity of purpose for legislative reforms with opposition, if they fail to uphold the highest standards of patriotism , maturity , and integrity in this dialogue and the blame sits squarely right on them unquestionably. As a ruling party, and government the buck stops with them entirely. Sectarian conflict among Churches is immaturity and divisive in the National interests as it plays to partisan interests. The Church must be above partisan Interests for or against UPND or PF. Churches doing this divide the nation and must stop forthwith!
As Movement for National Transformation, MNT, we seek a National dialogue that is all inclusive, mature, and quick to foster the required legislative reforms for the country urgently. Zambia needs the Access of Information Bill, AOI, enacted into law to compel those in power to be accountable and transparent. The public Order Act, POA, Electoral reforms, Constitutional reforms, and Criminal Justice Reforms, all need an advanced first world transformative leadership approach which the PF lacks, to urgently create a conducive environment and political space without; tribalism , violence , nepotism, regionism , and corruption. PF practices transactional leadership, which is very weak in long term, medium term planning , and innovative thinking as it were.
Conclusively, National dialogue is necessary for giving credibility and legitimacy to legal reforms urgently needed in Zambia. Therefore, let National Dialogue be national in consensus and character to speak to these aforementioned legal reforms as consensus, credibility and legitimacy thereof. The Ministry of Justice and Parliament must be given resolutions to advance the said legislative reform process urgently.
