CHISHIMBA Kambwili has pledged to work with President Edgar Lungu and support him following the arrest of Minister for Infrastructure and Housing Ronald Chitotela yesterday.
Mr Kambwili applauded ACC and President Lungu over the arrest and said ‘I will drink wine today.
‘If this is the route President Lungu is going to take then am ready to work with him and support him’, he said.
Mr Kambwili was reacting to the arrest of Mr Chitotela by the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) for allegedly concealing property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Mr Kambwili told the Daily Nation in an exclusive interview that the arrest had vindicated him and that if the Head of State was going to continue cleaning up corruption in government then he was going to work with him.
“If he can clean up the corruption in the whole system, who am I not to support him? Because governance is about giving a service to the people. So when citizens cry that Mr President there is corruption, and he cleans up corruption, this country becomes free of corruption, why shouldn’t I support?” he questioned. He however demanded that the arrests should be extended to other ministers he claimed were corrupt.
And ACC Assistant Public Relations Manager Dorothy Mwanza said Mr Chitotela was arrested for allegedly concealing property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
