A 25-year-old man of Lavushimanda in Muchinga Province has murdered his 72 year old employer after stealing Eight gallons of maize and 8 gallons of beans from him.
Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Joel Njase identified the suspect as Andrew Musukwa 25 who allegedly murdered Christopher Chitalu Musonda 72 of Ngosa kayanda village in Chief Mpumba’s area.
Mr Njase said the incident happened between 31st January 2019 and 4th February 2019 at his farm house in Ngosa Kayanda village.
‘‘Circumstance on the matter are that Andrew Musukwa aged 25 a piece worker used to stay with late Christopher Chitalu Musonda aged 72 at his farm house doing piece work for him.
On Monday around 1700 hours James Mutale the brother in law of same area found the house burning and a black cap belonging to the late at his house premises with blood stains which was positively identified as for the deceased.’’Mr Njase said.
Mr Njase said the brother in law to the deceased reported the matter to Kalonje ZAWA offices after suspecting that his brother in law could have been killed by the suspect who was later apprehended at his house.
Mr Njase said the suspect, willfully and voluntary admitted to having killed the deceased using an axe handle to hit him on his head until he died.
He said the suspect told police that he pulled the body for deceased in his house and set it ablaze after stealing 8 gallons of beans and 8 gallons of white maize which he did not want him to know.
And A 27-YEAR-OLD man has drowned while two women survived after a banana boat they were in capsized on Lake Kariba on Tuesday night, Southern Province Police Commissioner Diamond Likashi has disclosed.
Mr Likashi identified the deceased as Kizadi Kabila whose body was still missing after the blue banana boat they were using capsized in high waves on Tuesday after midnight.
Mr Likashi said Mr Kabila, of Chilindi Village in Chief Chipepo, Gwembe district was the one paddling the boat when it capsized due to heavy waves.
