Hubby Sends Girlfriend To Batter Wife

A wife of Kitwe has testified before the Buchi Local Court how her husband allegedly sent his girlfriend to their matrimonial home to beat her up. Clara Kasonge told the court that the rough encounter she had with her husband’s girlfriend has actually left her limping. Kasonge was testifying in a case in which her husband, Gibson Mbola, sued her for divorce on grounds that she issues death threats at him.

The two got married in 2010 and have two children together. Kasonge told the court that they got married after Mbola impregnated her and that her nine years of marriage have been full of misery. She accused her husband of having extra-marital affairs and taking his girlfriends home.
Kasonge said her husband’s girlfriend once went to her house to tell her that her husband was no longer in love with her and that he was planning to marry her (girlfriend).

“My husband connived with his girlfriend to come to our house to beat me up. I cannot even walk normally now because the beatings I received from his girlfriend,” she said. Kasonge also narrated that her husband has no respect for her and that he tells her to her face that he does not have any feelings for her.

And Mbola told the court that his wife moves around aimlessly and he has to wait for her when he knocks off from work. He also complained to the court that his wife likes issuing death threats at him and that she also threatens to commit suicide if he tries to leave her. Mbola asked the court to divorce them because he was not willing to remain in a marriage full of death threats.

And Buchi senior local court magistrate Elita Bwalya granted the couple divorce and ordered Mbola to compensate his wife with K7,000 in instalments.
