After his wife allegedly stopped washing clothes for him, a husband of Kitwe ended up taking his dirty clothes to his ‘side chick’ who offered to do the laundry. Henry Nkhoma was testifying before the Bulangililo Local Court in a case in which he sued Carol Musonda for divorce on grounds that she does not perform her marital duties.
The two got married in 1995 and they have five children together. Nkhoma told the court that problems in there started in 2007 after his wife started disrespecting him. He told the court that his wife refuses to perform her house chores and that he has to do everything for himself.
Nkhoma said because of this, he found himself a girlfriend who has been helping him.
“All my clothes have been moved to my girlfriend’s house because she is the one that does the washing,” he said. Nkhoma also accused his wife of disliking his relatives who have since stopped visiting the couple’s home. He also told the court that his wife threatens to commit suicide and that he would rather divorce her so that he is not held accountable of her actions.
Nkhoma further said he plans to marry his girlfriend who is also willing to take care of his children. And Musonda told the court that she stopped washing for her husband because he stopped giving her money for upkeep. She said that she has lived for two years without seeing her husband’s salary.
Musonda also complained that her husband likes to keep late nights. Bulangililo senior local court magistrate Kambole Nyoni granted the couple divorce and ordered Nkhoma to compensate his wife with K7000.
