A Woman of Mwansabombwe has been arrested for allegedly burning her two-year-old daughter. Police deputy spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said in a statement yesterday that Esther Mumba, 21, of Kasumpa village allegedly beat her child and later threw her on fire for eating relish from a pot. The girl sustained severe burns on both legs. “The incident happened on Monday when the suspect found her child eating relish from the pot. She got upset, beat her up and later threw her on fire.

Fortunately, the child was rescued by her grandfather,” Mr Hamoonga said. The suspect is in custody and will appear in court soon. Meanwhile, police in Lusaka picked a body of a man on Monday at a bar in Kabwata. Police suspect Nicky Mashilipa, 44, to have killed himself. “We received a report of a man killing himself after taking doom at a bar in Kabwata,” he said.
