A POLICE officer has been charged with incest after he allegedly defiled his four-year-old daughter. The Ndola magistrate court has granted Fred Mweene K50,000 bail in his own recognisance. It is alleged that on February 18, this year, the 28-year-old Mweene defiled his daughter.
When the matter came up on Friday last week, Ndola chief resident magistrate John Mbuzi granted Mweene and his two sureties K50,000 bail each in their own recognizance.

This means that should Mweene skip bail on unconvincing reasons, he and his sureties will pay the amount to the State in cash.
Meanwhile, the court has also heard that a peasant farmer, Bruce Matanda, allegedly had sex with his 13-year-old daughter. It is alleged that on May 31, 2018, Matanda defiled his Grade Four daughter.

His daughter testified before magistrate Monica Mutinta that on that day, her father called her to his bedroom, undressed her and defiled her.
“It was not the first time that my father had sex with me, he started doing that while my mother was away. He told me that if I told anyone, he was going to kill me,” she told the court.

She only disclosed, the ordeal after her grandmother questioned her when she saw that she was walking awkwardly. “I told her it was my father who was doing bad manners,” she said. Both cases have been adjourned to Wednesday this week for commencement and continuation of trial, respectively.
