A man of Kabushi has divorced his wife for flirting with another man over a K100 she borrowed from him. And the Kabushi Local Court has since dissolved the marriage between Kevina Kalusa, 23, and her husband Jeffrey Chinamo, 32, in a divorce suit. Kalusa told the court that the two got married in January 2014 and have two children. She said Chinamo paid K50 as bride price.
Ms Kalusa narrated that after some time, her husband told her that his mother disapproved of the marriage describing her as a prostitute.
But Chinamo told the local court that the problems in their marriage started when his wife borrowed money from a certain man after he was stranded in the bush, where he went to buy tomatoes for sale.
He said when he came back, his wife kept receiving phone calls at night from the same man she borrowed a K100 from.
Mr Chinamo said one night while his wife thought he was asleep, he heard her tell the man how nice he was in bed and not to be calling her at night when her husband was around.
He said the following day he got the number from his wife’s phone and contacted the man who admitted flirting with his wife.
“The man admitted flirting with my wife. I went to the police and they told me to get a summons but when I went back home, I found that my wife had already packed her belongings and left me,” he said.
But the court dissolved the marriage for lack of love and ordered Chinamo to compensate his wife K6,000 to be paid in instalments. Chinamo was also told to pay K250 to his now former wife and K400 as monthly upkeep for her and their children.
