PF Made Its Money From Maize Exports

Political Analyst Dante Saunders believes the Patriotic Front(PF) have made “the money they needed for election campaigns” after u-turning  on its decision of lifting the ban on maize exports.
Barely months after lifting the ban on maize exports, government announced that it has banned the export of maize.
But Saunders says the PF has made money enough to carryout its campaign.
“No, mwana they have made their money that is why they have imposed ban on maize export. All this period the lift of ban on maize product was effected, PF was making money and after accomplishing their mission, they have decided to ban the maize export,” he said
Saunders expect the meali-meal prices to be reduced after the ban on maize export.
He wondered why Zambia’s meali-meal prices are high when the country recorded bumper harvest in the previous farming seasons.
The Governance Activist disclosed that he had proposed in the National Constitution Conference(NCC) that maize harvest should not be rushed into export for the period of three harvest but that proposal went on deaf ears.
And Saunders expressed concern that the PF have been taking advantage of poor farmers in the country.
He said the maize price pegged at K60 is an insult to the poor farmer.
“…and to make matters worse, some of the farmers have not yet been paid by Government,” Mr Saunders said.
