GEOFFREY Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) has pledged to revamp all his companies in the country to contribute to the country’s economic growth as well as create jobs.
Mr Mwamba told the Daily Nation yesterday that all his companies which were closed would be revived for the betterment of the country. He said that it was prudent for him to help the Zambians and the country at large.
“All I want to do is to revive my business in Zambia and this is how I will create employment especially to the youth and contribute to the national development. I need to revive my business as much as I can for the betterment of this country,” Mr Mwamba said. He said he would not sit idle to see the unemployment levels continue escalating when he had muscle to revive his companies. Mr Mwamba said he would concentrate more in ensuring that the companies thrived to bring glory especially to the unemployed youths. Mr Mwamba said the government alone would not manage to create employment to all citizens and that the private sector should, therefore, play a critical role. The former UPND vice president said the private sector was key in helping the creation of jobs in the country. “This time around now I am not active in politics, I am only a mere member of the ruling party, so I will use this opportunity to revive all the companies so that my people can have jobs. “Before I joined the UPND, I used to run my companies well because I had time. I became so busy when I joined the UPND because I concentrated in building the party. So I can assure the Zambians that my companies will be revived so that many can benefit,” he said.
