KITWE District Commissioner (DC) Binwell Mpundu says he is concerned that some Ministers are getting to the city to inspect developmental projects without informing his office.

Mr Mpundu said it was only in order for Ministers to pay a courtesy call at his office before inspecting Government projects so that they could exchange notes on issues concerning the projects.

Mr Mpundu was speaking yesterday at his office when of officers from State House and from Works and Supply Ministry paid a courtesy on him.

‘’As Government leaders, we need to work together so that things work smoothly. Where there is a hitch, we exchange notes. , I get concerned when Government Ministers come into the district without informing me,’’ he said.

And Mr Mpundu admitted that motorists were frustrated at the slow pace at which the road rehabilitation, on President Avenue had been moving.
‘’When the contractor closed the road to pave way for rehabilitation works, people were happy that things would start moving, but the slow pace of road rehabilitation is very worrying to the residents, especially the motorists.

“I can tell you that people are now frustrated at the slow pace of road rehabilitation works on the site. They have closed that road for a long time, but nothing much is happening. The closure has created congestion, especially at peak hours because President Avenue is mostly used by motorists,’’ Mr Mpundu said

He urged the delegation to channel the concerns to relevant authorities in Lusaka so that appropriate action could be taken to ensure the road rehabilitation works could be expedited.

AVIC International was awarded the contract to rehabilitate the road in the Central Business District in Kitwe.
