The Zambian man who married the wife’s best friend now wants divorce.

When her husband allegedly attempted t o r a p e her sister, Petronella Miti had had enough. She decided to leave her husband. Miti was testifying in a case in which her husband, Bradley Bwalya, sued her for divorce on grounds that she is a prostitute. The couple got married in 2007 and has two children together.

According to Miti, trouble in their marriage started in 2009 when her husband started having extramarital affairs. She told the court that her husband also stopped supporting his family financially and accused her of being a prostitute. She told the court that her husband is a promiscuous man who went on to marry her best friend. Miti said Bwalya also attempted to rape her sister. “I opted to leave the house after I discovered that he was a shameless man who wanted to rape my sister,” she said.

Miti said her husband has now married her best friend, but that she no longer cares because she, too, has a boyfriend who is taking good care of her. She, however, complained that her husband is trying to bewitch her boyfriend because he is jealous of him. Miti did not object her husband’s decision to divorce her, saying there was no love left between them. And Bwalya told the court that all was well between him and his wife, but problems started in 2017 after his wife started spending nights away from home.

He said his wife used to go away from home for three weeks and that his sister-in-law tipped him that the wife used to spend nights in guest houses. Bwalya said his wife used to starve him sexually, and that in September last year, she decided to leave their matrimonial home without informing him.
