We are seeing a lot of debate saying Zambia has failed to run Zampost, will they manage KCM.. Well we can manage, these are two totally different entities.. Their stories are also different.. Zampost went down because technology shifted.. But here is what I think should have happened

After technology changed and we stopped using postage stamps, Zampost was supposed to turn into a super courier company providing even door to door deliveries. Everyone ordering even cars, phones, or sending stuff outside was supposed to use Zampost.. zampost was supposed to link itself to all international shippers, they should have had motor bikes for door to door deliveries, trucks to move stuff.. Even the copper for the mines there should have been a sole contract for Zampost to move it.. All government goods like drugs for hospitals, equipment for schools was supposed to be moved by Zampost..

But alas we let a good thing die.. They now became general dealers selling even insurance just to survive, doing money transfer and started giving loans as a microfinance.. Lost with no plan and direction …
