Lusaka Mayor Disowns Plans To Demolish Shops At COMESA Market

Given that I was blamed and insulted when Council police demolished trading stalls in Chilenje a few months ago and yet I was not aware and I did not give the demolition orders.

I was accused by some, of decampaigning PF and the President and yet it was done behind my back.

Today there is another plan to demolish shops at COMESA market.
Someone at Local Government Ministry is by-passing me and giving those Demolition orders direct to LCC management.

If and when the COMESA shops demolition schemed for this weekend happens, please note that I have not been consulted and I dont approve of the Demolition.

Law must be respected always but I am here to build and not destroy. There are many other ways to resolve land disputes but Demolition should not be the only solution. Its counter productive. These marketeers have been making living out of these shops for years. Its not like they are constructing now.

Times are hard for all of us. Where and how will these traders feed their families from?

Why were the shop structures allowed to be constructed in the first place? Where was Council then?

I refuse to be part of the Demolition “excitement” without first finding alternative land for tagerted maketeers.

The timming is wrong for any Demolition.

Again, when and if demolition led by Council happens, let those issuing such orders behind my back and directly ordering my juniors at LCC, come out in the open to defend their orders.

As for me, I am anti demolishing any stall anywhere.

Enough of this man with callous pechant for actions likely to dent the image of PF and the image of the President while I get the blame and he plays trickery with no blame on himself.

Nasambamo.
