LAW enforcement agencies have made no headway five days after a Barclays Bank employee, Pamela Gondwe vanished into thin air with US$400,000 (about K5.3 million). Some sources spoken to from security wings said the incident was reported on Monday but no information leading to the arrest of Ms Gondwe has come up yet.
And Bankers Association of Zambia president Leonard Mwanza declined to comment on the matter. Mr Mwanza said the association will only issue a statement on the matter after the Drug Enforcement Commission concludes its investigation. On Wednesday, both the DEC and Barclays Bank confirmed the theft in which investigations have been instituted. And the Zambia Police Service have maintained not having received the report as the matter is not under their jurisdiction.
In April, Pamela was featured in an article published in the Zambia Daily Mail talking about her book, Tears in a Suitcase, which is a collection of her poems. She launched the book on June 1, this year at Ngoma Dolce Music Academy. When she was interviewed by the Daily Mail, Pamela also talked about her problem of stammering. “I have a stuttering problem. I used to stammer so much when I was very young. Sometimes I failed to speak, so I would write down what I wanted to say and read it out loud,” Pamela said
