Manufacturers Call For Tax Cuts

Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) has called on Government to reduce taxes on the Manufacturing sector.

ZAM President Rosseta Chabala this will support the growth of the manufacturing sector.

She said this during the Zambia Association of Manufacturers Annual General Meeting in Lusaka today.

Mrs Chabala said Zambia has also witnessed a lot of trade barriers which government needs to engage neighboring countries so that locally produced goods can find their way to the international markets.

She however thanked government for its willingness to develop the manufacturing industry and effort to help Zambia be counted as one of the self-sustaining producers in the region.

But Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Christopher Yaluma says government is aware of the issues limiting the growth and development of the manufacturing sector in Zambia.

Mr. Yaluma says government has therefore adopted an open-door policy, where all stakeholders engage on how the manufacturing industry can be revived.

He says government will continue implementing supportive policies, strategies and legislation aimed at promoting value addition.

And Mr. Yaluma has challenged Zambians to develop a culture of buying local products to support the local industries.
