Dangote Cement Zambia Limited has completed the power purchase agreement with Copperbelt Energy Corporation Company (CEC).
Dangote Chief Executive Officer Albert Corcos says CEC has agreed to be purchasing one third of the total 66KV power to be generated from the company’s thermal power plant.
The construction of the power substation is at 30 percent.
However, Mr. Corcos declined to disclose the cost of power per kilowatt.
Meanwhile, Mr. Corcos has stressed that the fluctuation of the kwacha against major currencies has negatively affected its business.
He said the company depends on imported materials and spare parts to run the plant.
He said the company has continued to adhere to the global standards of governance and serve the market.
