Police in Nchelenge district have apprehended a 28-year-old teacher for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 15-year-old school girl.

Police apprehended Tresford Kangwa, a teacher of English at Nchelenge Secondary School, after he was reported of having impregnated the teenage girl.

Luapula Province Police Commissioner Elias Chushi said that the incident is alleged to have happened between February and June this year.

Mr. Chushi said the suspect has since been arrested and charged with defilement contrary to section 138 of the Penal Code Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia as amended by Act number 15 of 2005.
