Former Zambia Captain Dickson Makwaza Dies Aged 76

Former Zambia National Soccer team captain Dickson Makwaza has died at the age of 76.

The former KK 11 skipper past away this morning at Ndola Teaching Hospital where he was admitted following an illness.

Makwaza who captained Zambia at the 1974 Africa Cup where they finished in second place, was the father to former national team player Linos Makwaza snr and grandfather to Power Dynamos midfielder Linos Makwaza jr.

The former Mighty Mufulira Wanderers player and coach won five national league titles during his playing days and was nicknamed Barbed Wire due to his power defence.

The funeral is in Luanshya at house number 50 in Ghana Circle residential area.
