1, 020 UPND Sesheke Cadres Defect To PF

OVER 1 000 UPND members in Sesheke have defected to the Patriotic Front.

The 1, 020 former UPND members led by Hamupoela Mulowa yesterday defected from various wards of Sesheke at a rally that was held at Sesheke Secondary School.

Mr. Mulowa said they have decided to leave the UPND because there was nothing happening in the party, stating that they were not convinced that there was true and genuine leadership in the opposition.

He said they had joined the PF because they were convinced that no leader was better than President Edgar Lungu.

Mr. Mulowa said the defectors would work with President Lungu in mobilising the party so that he accrues massive votes and win the 2021 general elections.

And Western Province chairperson Charles Mututwa who was accompanied by his provincial secretary Mulenga Tembo received the defectors on behalf of the party. Mr. Mututwa said he was hopeful that PF members would continue to mobilise the party to enhance growth.

He also urged the old members to embrace the new ones. Mr. Mututwa also condemned some opposition UPND members who threatened those who defected to the PF, stating that everyone had a right to join a party of their choice.
