Housing and Infrastructure Development minister Ronald Chitotela has asked the Lusaka magistrate court to set him at liberty in a case he is accused of being in possession of properties suspected to be proceeds of crime.

He says the evidence given by the Prosecution has been so discredited that no reasonable tribunal can convict him even if he was to remain silent.

According to the submissions made by his lawyer Jonas Zimba, Chitotela should be acquitted on the basis that there is no case that has been made against him to require him make a defence.

Zimba says the evidence laid by the prosecution has not proved the charge preceded against his client.
The court has set Thursday this week as a date for ruling on whether or not Chitotela has a case to answer.
