Police Arrest 3 Ex-Convicts Who Have Been Terrorising Avondale, Ibex Hill

POLICE in Lusaka have arrested three ex-prisoners they say are responsible for a spate of robberies around Avondale, Ibex Hill, Salama Park and Hill Meanwood areas.

Several stolen items including 22 plasmas television sets, 16 generators, home theater systems, speakers and a microwave among others were recovered from the men.

An AK 47 rifle which police suspect was being used to to commit crimes by the trio has also been recovered and confiscated.

Police spokesperson Esther Mwata Katongo identified the trio as Charles Mulonda aged 28 along with Frank Tembo aka Wanga and Ernest Mwale both aged 33.

The trio who are all ex-convicts are blamed for a spate of criminal activities experienced by residents of Avondale, Salama Park, Ibex Hill Meanwood between December, 2018 and June, 2019.

“The criminals have so far been connected to aggravated robberies, burglary, thefts and rape. Some items were recovered from members of the public where they were sold while some where recovered from the suspects,” Katongo told #Kalemba in statement.

Katongo urged members of the public in the areas were the trio are said to have been operating and surrounding areas who could have had their property stolen to go to Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Police Station to identify the recovered items.

“We are assuring members of the public that Police are working round the clock to ensure that people’s lives and property are safeguarded,” Katongo assured.
