Suspected Murderer Of Chinese Couple In Court

KENNY Figo, the 36-yearold man of Mumbwa accused of hacking to death a Chinese couple last month, appeared before the Mumbwa Magistrate’s Court yesterday for mention. Figo, an electrician, is facing two counts of murdering his former employers, Jinrong Yon, 53, and his wife, Zhuming Hu, 49. He appeared before magistrate Mumba Mwaba on one count of murder and another of aggravated robbery involving theft of K30,000 which he took from Sun Share shop after allegedly killing the couple.

Figo allegedly committed the offences on June 18 between 19:00 hours and 20:00 hours. When Figo took his position in court, public prosecutor Mukela Mutanuka said the suspect was appearing in court for mention. “The accused person is before court.

The docket was sent back to the police to finish investigations before it is sent to the DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) for instructions,” Mr Mutanuka told a fully packed courtroom. Magistrate Mwaba adjourned the case to August 9 for mention.

And while he was being taken to court by police and Department of Wildlife officers, another accused person carried Figo on his back. Figo was arrested in Lusaka’s Ballaston Park. The police officers who pursued him shot him in one of the legs when he allegedly attempted to run away
