FIRE has for the second time destroyed property worth millions of Kwacha at Chilonga School of Nursing in Mpika district. In 2016, the institution’s hostels, kitchen and administration block were gutted and property woth millions destroyed.

Muchinga Province commissioner of police Joel Njase said in an interview yesterday said that the inferno, which started around 10:45 hours on Wednesday, emanated from a hostel room where a heating element was left unplugged.

Mr Njase said the occupants of the room were students Richard Silavwe, Chileshe Mukuta, Clement Wamulima, Emmanuel Mwenge, Daniel Banda, and Mutale Mwango. “Earlier that day, the students warmed water for bathing around 06:00 hours after which the institution experienced a power outage
