FIVE directors of the National Pensions Scheme Authority (NAPSA) have allegedly been swindled of various amounts of money but totalling K600,000 by a law firm called Marshal Chambers on pretext that there was land on sale at Lusaka’s Baobab on Kafue road.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the land scandal.
She says between 16th and 23rd July, 2019, the five NAPSA directors received information of land for sale at Baobab and that the sale was spearheaded by Marshal Chambers, a Law firm allegedly headed by a Mr Germano Mutale Kaulungombe and that down payments of K100, 000 was paid by each complainant except for one complainant who paid K200, 000 for two plots.
Ms Katongo says investigations however revealed that the land belonged to Nyimba Investments and had not been offered for sale hence three suspects identified as Mr Kaulungombe, Stanley Tembo and Leonard Mapulunga Nyoni were apprehended and jointly charged and arrested for one count of Forcible Detainer and five counts of obtaining money by false pretences.
The suspects are detained in police custody and will appear in Court soon
